Thanks for a great Sunday Brunch

The Charlotte Royals Rugby Football Club would like to express a special thanks to Shane Windmeyer and Tommy Feldman for the Buff Faye’s "RUCK & MAUL" SUNDAY DRAG BRUNCH on April 15th. The money raised at the event was donated to the team to help us compete at the Bingham International Rugby Tournament. The drag brunch included wonderful performances from Buff Faye (Me-Wow!), Miley Virus, Kiana Layne, Starla Davinci, and Detra Panucci, along with the Royals’ own Mia Deporte and Ferocia Starr! Thanks to everyone that attended the drag brunch. The Royals had a great time, especially Zach and June. If you don’t believe me, check out our pictures :-) . If you missed out, Buff Faye’s Drag Brunch is a monthly event. Also, Buff Faye will be hosting the 3rd Annual Queen City Drag Race at Hartigan’s Irish Pub, for which the Charlotte Royals are hoping to submit a team. For more information, check out www.queencitydragrace.com.

Breaking News!!!

Thanks to a wonderful supporter, the Charlotte Royals made the news on April 11th. Doug Driggers posted the story, “Local gay rugby team tackles the Bingham Cup”, on WBTV’s website. The story describes the Royals first appearance at the rugby tournament early this June. The story provided the Royals with a lot of exposure that day. The post was recommended by 170 people on Facebook, over 300 people visited the website and according to Doug, the article got more page views than “Tiger Woods Commits to Wells Fargo Championship” and “Zimmerman in Custody!” In addition, the team received a special email from Alice Hoagland, the mother of Mark Bingham, who the Bingham Cup is named after! She congratulated the Royals for attending and competing in the tournament. The Charlotte Royals were honored by Mrs. Hoagland’s email and everyone’s support. We will represent the Queen City with integrity and respect during the Bingham Cup in Manchester.

Does this dress match my cleats?

Spring in Charlotte is sure to bring two things: pollen and the Charlotte Royals Prom Dress Match.  This year marks the third annual fundraising match, with the Charlotte Royals playing the Nashville Grizzlies here in the Queen City. The Charlotte Royals are raising funds to pay for new equipment, jerseys, and their trip to the Bingham Cup Tournament this summer in Manchester, UK.  The team, led by president Thomas Southerland, coach Amanda “Multi” Vestal, and co-captains BJ Smith and Jason Sadler, are working hard to plan the tournament trip in late May.

The Prom Dress Match, themed “Ruck-Us on Bourbon Street”, will be held on Saturday, April 21 at Tuckaseegee Park, 4898 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28208. A post-match celebration (Third Half) will be held at Sidelines Sports Bar.  Count on there being lots of beads, masks, and beer!

Also watch for the Royals’ final home match this season against the Columbus Coyotes on Saturday, May 5!!!  GO ROYALS!
