Starting 2012 With Drinking & Rugby

Happy 2012!!! After a much needed rest, the Charlotte Royals are ready to start the New Year off with two fun events to get everyone excited about the Spring Season.

First, we are hosting our at Sidelines and this year there are new prizes! Come join us for an awesome night with our favorite bartenders as we raise funds for the team to get our guys to the Bingham Cup Tournament in Manchester, England.

Registration starts at 7pm and ends at 8pm when the brackets are set and the tournament starts. The entry fee is $10 per person or $20 per team. Along with a fun night of drinking with your favorite ruggers, each player in the tournament will receive a Charlotte Royals pint glass and the chance to win fabulous prizes from our sponsors. If you don't have a partner to play with, just let us know and we can pair you up!

Second, the Royals are looking for players and supporters as we kick off our 2012 Spring Season with Rugby 101!

Join us at Cordelia Park as we engage in some fitness and rugby fundamentals as we teach/refresh the sport to participants. All men regardless of skill level are welcome to attend. We just ask that you are medically able to play and that you bring an open mind and a willingness to be taught the game. We are planning various drills and exercises for the entire session but will be taking water breaks throughout the afternoon. Water will be provided.

Any supporters and auxiliary members who wish to come out and either work out with us or watch and support us are welcome too!!!

If you have any questions regarding either event, please email your questions to RoyalsRFC@yahoo.com.

GO ROYALS!!!

‘tis the season to give back

RAINDeer Postcard

The holiday season is only a couple of days away and RAIN (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network) is preparing for its annual RAINdeer project, sponsored by the Charlotte Royals and Carolina Alliance Softball.

Numerous RAIN clients have the difficult task of choosing between holiday gifts or paying for their bills and other expenses. The RAINdeer project hopes to alleviate the stress experienced by those clients during the holiday season. RAIN is asking for monetary donations so the RAIN program staff can offer each client a gift card from various businesses, such as McDonald’s, Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Bojangles, etc. Smaller dollar amounts will go far, as $20 can be divided into either 2 - $10 cards or 4 - $5 cards. The gift cards can be delivered  to the RAIN Office (501 North Tryon St., 4th Floor). You can also drop the gift cards off at the Smoothie King (1600 East Woodlawn Rd location only) and receive a free smoothie.

This project is possible because of the generous contributions received from the community. Year after year, RAIN is able to spread the joy of the holidays to those living with HIV/AIDS in Charlotte and surrounding areas. We are grateful for your support so that we can make this year even better than the past years.

For more information, please to contact RoyalsRFC@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
